Key Factor in Small Business Survivability?

Everyone’s heard the truism that nine out of ten businesses fail in the first year. In fact, according to Dun and Bradstreet data, almost half of new businesses are still open at the four year mark.

And home-based businesses are among the least likely to fail.

Frank Ross suggests in his Home-Based Business blog that these businesses have three components that contribute to success:

With a home-based business we have at least 3 key components that are likely contributors to success. We have a comfortable working environment. We have no stressful, time-consuming commute to and from a workplace. And until we grow to the point of having to acquire physical facilities and employees outside the home, we have the tremendous benefit of low overhead.
